Terms of Use
Effective: October 7, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of coursefordummies.com, your account, and the courses you purchase (together, the "Services"). Please read them carefully, together with our Privacy Policy and our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which form part of these Terms.
1. Agreement to These Terms
By creating an account, purchasing a course, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Who We Are
"Starewater," "we," "our," or "us" means Starewater Group, Inc., 999 3rd Avenue, Suite 700, Seattle, Washington 98104, United States. Starewater operates the Services and is the seller of every course you purchase through them.
The Dummies brand is offered under a license from Wiley & Sons, Inc., and its affiliates ("Wiley"). Wiley is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Services or your purchases.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract to use the Services. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
When you create an account, you agree to:
provide accurate and complete information, and keep it up to date;
keep your password confidential and not share your account with anyone;
hold only one account, unless we agree otherwise in writing; and
tell us promptly at helpdesk@starweaver.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
4. Purchases and Payment
Courses are sold individually. The price of each course is shown on its page before you buy, along with whether it includes applicable taxes. You are charged in your local currency, and the converted price and conversion rate are shown at checkout before you pay. The payment methods available to you depend on your location. Applicable taxes, such as GST in India, are shown at checkout before you pay.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a purchase, you authorise us and Stripe to charge your chosen payment method for the amount shown at checkout. Purchases are one-time payments. We do not charge you on a recurring basis.
We may change course prices at any time. A price change does not affect a course you have already purchased.
5. All Sales Final
All purchases are final and non-refundable, except in the limited cases described in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
At checkout, you agree to receive immediate access to the course and acknowledge that, as a result, you lose any right to cancel the purchase or withdraw from it, including any statutory right of withdrawal where the law allows that right to be waived. Chargebacks are also covered by our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
6. Access to Courses
When you purchase a course, you get lifetime access to it through your account. "Lifetime" means for as long as your account is active and Starewater operates the Services, including under a different name or website, subject to these Terms.
We will not remove a course you have purchased from your account. We may update its content, for example to correct errors or keep it current.
If we stop operating the Services, for example because our license from Wiley ends, you will lose access to your courses. We will give you at least 90 days' notice by email before this happens.
We do not currently issue certificates of completion.
7. Intellectual Property and Your License
The Services and all course content, including video, text, readings, quizzes, assessments, graphics, and downloadable materials, are owned by Wiley and its licensors. The For Dummies marks are owned by Wiley. They are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and view the courses you purchase, for your own non-commercial learning. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
You may not:
copy, download, record, reproduce, distribute, publish, display, sell, or rent any course content, except where the Services expressly allow it;
share your account or course access with anyone else;
modify, translate, or create derivative works from course content;
remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other notice; or
use course content to train, test, or improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning model.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
use the Services in violation of any law or regulation;
infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of anyone;
access or attempt to access another person's account, or any part of the Services you are not authorised to use;
use bots, crawlers, or other automated means to access the Services or collect content;
interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Services, or introduce any harmful code;
reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Services, except where the law permits it; or
misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with any person or organisation.
9. Your Content
"Your content" means information you submit through the Services, such as quiz and assessment responses and messages to our support team. You keep ownership of your content. You grant us a licence to use it as needed to provide, maintain, and improve the Services. How we handle personal information in your content is described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Educational Purposes Only
Courses are provided for general educational purposes. They are not professional advice, including legal, medical, financial, or tax advice. Consult a qualified professional where appropriate. Completing a course does not grant any accredited qualification or licence.
11. Changes to the Services and Courses
We may update, improve, add, or remove courses and features at any time. We may also suspend or discontinue any part of the Services. Courses you have already purchased remain in your account, as described in Section 6.
12. Third-Party Services and Websites
The Services rely on third-party providers, such as Stripe for payments and Thinkific for course delivery.
The Services may link to websites that Starewater does not operate, including dummies.com, other Wiley websites, and Courses. Your use of those sites and services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
13. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Services and ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing helpdesk@starweaver.com. Deleting your account does not entitle you to a refund, except as stated in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if you use creates a risk of legal exposure for Starewater or others. If we terminate your account for a breach, you will not be entitled to a refund.
Sections 7, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 19 survive any termination.
14. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services and all course content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. These include implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any course will help you achieve a particular result.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Starewater nor Wiley, nor their affiliates, officers, employees, or licensors, will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Starewater and Wiley, and their affiliates, officers, and employees, from any claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Services.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you and Starewater consent to their jurisdiction.
Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at helpdesk@starweaver.com so we can try to resolve the dispute informally.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory rights you have under the laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law provides it.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Services before the change takes effect. By continuing to use the Services after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. Changes do not apply to purchases made before they take effect.
19. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and our Refund and Cancellation Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Starewater about the Services.
Notices. We may give you notices by email or by posting them on the Services. You agree to receive communications from us electronically.
Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets.
Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
